In June 2023, Marine Engineering (MEGA) marked an important milestone in its development and evolution: after 19 years from the start-up of MEGA, our outsourcing coordinator and colleague, Piet Polderman, from Damen Naval, pay his last visit in our offices, before his retirement. Piet has worked for Damen for 46 years, the last 15 years of which he has been working closely with our team. As he once said, his job started off answering all the questions coming from the engineers in Romania. Back then there was only 8 people in the team, now there’s more than 170! Piet has supported MEGA over the years, coordinating the Detailed Engineering between Vlissingen and Galati, this includes liaising between the various teams, as well as arranging 3DX training for the Romanian engineers. Over that period, he has seen the company grow, both in terms of number of engineers and size of the offices. His highlights includes working on the JSS Karel Doorman, MATV for Australian Navy, Indonesian corvettes, icebreaker Nuyina and, most recently, the CSS and F126 projects.
